What Happens During a Reiki Treatment?

Reiki therapy
encourages
deep
relaxation and healing
of body, mind and spirit

promoting
physical, mental and emotional
harmony and good health

During Reiki therapy, universal (Rei) life-force energy (Ki) is channelled through my hands to you, replenishing depleted energy and stimulating your body’s natural ability to balance and heal mind, body and spirit.

Reiki therapy reduces susceptibility to illness and the effects of physical, emotional or mental stress.  Reiki can reduce pain from physical trauma or dis-ease.  Reiki releases energy blocks, allowing the free flow of Ki to harmonise the body and promote optimum health.

Reiki does not interfere with orthodox medicine, in fact Reiki is well-known to complement all other forms of healing.

You will be welcomed into a tranquil environment where candlelight and soft music aid relaxation.

Prior to your first treatment, I will discuss Reiki and your treatment with you, and deal with the necessary paperwork.  Treatment is given fully-clothed, except for shoes.  You can choose hands-on or hands-off treatment.

You will lay on the couch while I move my hands to various positions on (or above) your body, starting at your head and working down to your feet.  If lying down is uncomfortable for you, I can adapt to ensure your enjoyment and well-being.

After gently rousing you to turn over, I will then move my hands down your back to your feet.

No inappropriate areas are ever touched; in a hands-on treatment, hands-off is used over sensitive places.

You might feel warmth, tingling or cool areas during your treatment. You might feel very little. Each person's experience of Reiki is as individual as their own energy.  It is, however, typical to experience a blissful state of total relaxation.

I will sometimes use colour, sound or crystals, in conjunction with Reiki, to aid healing.

At the end of your treatment I will check, further clear and balance your Chakras.  Then, very gently and slowly, I will bring you back into awareness and ask you to sit up.

After a welcome drink of water, and when you have moved back to sit on a chair, we will discuss your treatment.  We will then agree any further treatment, if this is advised.

When you are fully awake and alert, you can leave (although probably reluctantly!) to enjoy whatever awaits you during the rest of the day.

If you elect to have a shorter treatment, this can be done either on the couch or sitting on a chair.

On the couch, I will treat just one side; usually people prefer to lay on their back, but you can choose to lay on your front.  If you sit on a chair, I will work down from your head to your feet to cover your whole body.

However you receive Reiki, the healing energy will flow to where it is needed to promote and maintain optimum balance and harmony, and so good health.
